A Nice Boat

The winner of this auction gets to name the boat! Decide on a name (nothing profane please) and I will paint it on there in a typical boat script. The name goes on the back on that lower part that is closest to the viewer.

I believe they call this a cabin cruiser, but I could be mistaken. This is designed from reference I gathered in San Diego.

San Diego Sunset

I just returned from a training seminar in San Diego. I did not have much free time, but I did make it to the beach just long enough to snap a few photos. Wet in wet watercolor can be tricky, but it is fun to watch it resolve itself.

Fish Face

This is my entry into the "Fish Challenge" in Daily Paintworks web site. I enjoyed the chance to try some bold strokes. I envisioned each stroke in advance and approached it like a dance.

Jar of Nails

Another item from my shelves... I enjoyed rendering the textures, the spaces and the glint of light.

Can of Nails

I have several of these sitting on the shelf in my garage. This one may be one my father started.

Fruit Basket

I love these old baskets..or crates...or whatever they are called. They convey a sense of nostalgia, country living, and harvest. I like the way the noon sun plays over the various textures here.

Ceramic Bunnies

This is actually a small sculpture... about 3.5 inches across. I was intrigued by the challenge of capturing the smooth rounded forms, the shadows and reflected light.

Morning Mist on Waldoxy Pond

Waldoxy State Park in northern Mississippi has a beautiful pond or lake with a nice trail all the way around it. Cypress trees give it that mysterious "swamp" look.

Deep Shadow Setting

I have done this arrangement before, but this time I tried a "deep shadow" version.

Backyard bird feeder

This is in my mother's backyard. It was there when she moved in and so we don't know its origins. It looks as if it is a scaled down barn. I enjoyed capturing the weathered textures against the greenery.

Fuji

My favorite kinds of apples are Fuji and York. They seem to be consistently sweet and crisp. This one was lit by the morning sun coming in the window.
