This vase (or whatever it is) sits on my mother's window sill. She doesn't remember where it came from, but it is fun to look at... and paint. Plus I get to say, "I painted a cute chick today!" That is high-larry-us!

Down Riverwood Street
I painted this same scene before from the same angle, but I couldn't resist doing it again. This time I removed the truck and gave it a slightly different treatment.

Down Great Oaks Road #2
Another view of my neighborhood. Things I enjoy visually: dappled sunlight, contrast of dark trees against bright greens, sections of homes appearing through the foliage, overlapping layers landscape elements giving a sense of depth, sunlit edges of bushes.

Obion River Bend
The Obion River is in northwest Tennessee. It meanders through rural farm country on its way to the Mississippi. Davy Crockett liked to hunt around here. My job here was to try and capture some of the afternoon sun and the feeling of autumn.

Tullahoma Tree
I sat in my car and drew this from life one afternoon in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The tree shape has a certain lyrical quality to it. I enjoyed capturing the massed foliage.

Pruned Apple Tree
My Father-in-law knows how to take care of his fruit trees. He doesn't let them get away with any undisciplined branching. I am looking forward to a good harvest someday.

Neighborhood View
I painted this while sitting in my car parked on a street near where I live. I wanted to create some depth and interest by overlapping planes of foliage and houses and showing all kinds of different values and hues of green.

Hackberry
This is an enormous Hackberry tree in the front yard of someone's house in my neighborhood. It is on my jogging route and no matter how winded I am I always stare at it and notice its contours, texture and shadows.

Road To Greenfield
That's Greenfield, Tennessee….not Greenville, Mississippi.
This is a typical sight to see along any rural road or interstate here in the south. Every time I pass I am intrigued by the collection of shiny interesting shapes...that plus that good feeling of driving through farmland.

Truck in the Woods
This is actually an old tow truck I found in a junkyard. I love the textures, the colors of the rust and shadows and the sense of the woods taking over.
